1 月 26, 2024 • 马普阿大学

To promote the Sustainable Development Goals, the School of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering and Sciences (CBMES) exhibited in three sessions (i.e., four per session) twelve of the best documentary-style short video films by the students of the course GED110 (People and Earth’s Ecosystems). The showcase of the short films was part of the activities and programs of the 99th Foundation Week Anniversary celebration of Mapua University.

The titles of the films were “Car-Boned Die Oxide,” “Water You Waiting For,” “Diego in the City,” “Introspect,” “Marine Plastic Pollution,” “Blossoms in Peril,” “From Stewards to Invaders,” “Could’ve, Should’ve,” “Breaking the Balance,” “Trash Landing on You,” ” Inva(sea)ve, and “Rocks to Riches.” The topics showcased in these films included carbon dioxide emissions, marine pollution, invasive species, solid waste problems, and human behavior and accountability toward various issues involving current environmental problems. Therefore, the collective message conveyed by the films contributes to promoting awareness among the students of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Among these are SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life On Land).

The event was a resounding success, with more than 200 students thoroughly enjoying the film and expressing their appreciation through applause at the end of each short film.

According to the Dean of the School of CBMES, who spearheaded the activity, the event shall be a permanent fixture of the annual Foundation Week activities.
