For many students, numbers can feel like a challenge to their dream career. At Mapúa University, that hurdle is being turned into a stepping stone through ALEKS – an adaptive learning platform by McGraw Hill that is changing the way Mapúans learn math and chemistry.

Is a fully online degree worth it? Maybe you are balancing work and studies, helping your family financially, or simply looking for a more flexible way to earn a college degree.

As the Philippines enters a new era of digital transformation under the National Cybersecurity Plan 2023-2028, a new breed of professional is emerging as the backbone of the modern economy: the Cybersecurity Specialist. With 1.3 million Filipino user accounts breached in 2025 alone, as reported by virtual private network service Surfshark—a staggering 2.5 accounts every minute—the demand for experts who can defend the nation’s digital borders has reached an all-time high.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant concept discussed only in research laboratories. Today, the role of AI is evident in hospitals, banks, factories, farms, and even in the apps we use every day. For students who are planning their college path and for parents who want to understand where technology is headed, it is natural to ask how AI is shaping future careers.

Understanding AI use in other industries helps students make informed decisions about their program choices. It also clarifies why universities like Mapúa continue to strengthen programs in computing, engineering, and data science.

In this article, let’s delve into the current applications of AI in various industries.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer something we hear about at tech conferences or see in sci-fi movies. It’s a part of daily life. AI is quietly working in the background, from recommending shows on streaming platforms to detecting suspicious transactions in banks. As a result, AI engineering careers have quickly become one of the most popular options for students interested in pursuing a degree in technology.

At Mapúa University, students can pursue a focused, industry-relevant track through the AI engineering program. The program combines strong foundations in mathematics, computing, and systems design with specialized AI training, giving graduates a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving industry.

Before looking at specific roles, it is helpful to understand what AI engineering is and its broader career outlook.

What if studying at a Philippine university could also give you access to global teaching practices, research opportunities, and international academic standards?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is now part of everyday life, from smart assistants and recommendation systems to advanced robotics and healthcare tools. As this technology evolves, so does the demand for skilled professionals to build and manage intelligent systems. If you are exploring future-ready careers, understanding the role of an AI engineer is a great place to start.

As our world grows more complex, the need for specialized experts who can solve global challenges like climate change and urbanization has never been greater.

Exploring the various branches of civil engineering is the first step toward finding your place in a field that literally builds the future.

Imagine a future you helped design. Maybe it’s a city that stays cool during a heatwave using reflective pavements, or a bridge that uses bacteria to heal its own cracks before they even become visible. This is the reality of modern engineering.

As you prepare to transition from high school to university, you have the chance to be more than just a builder—you can be an innovator. Exploring civil engineering research topics is your first step toward solving the world’s most pressing challenges, from climate change to rapid urbanization.
