NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM

“Grow a Tree Project”

Academic Year:  2024-2025

For Academic Year 2024–2025, the National Service Training Program (NSTP) participated in the University’s initiative for environmental rehabilitation and sustainability. The NSTP students took part in the Grow-A-Tree Project, which required each student to plant at least one fruit-bearing or hardwood seedling in a designated area within their respective communities.

Through video documentation, students showcased their planting activities and the progress of their seedlings. These videos were submitted at the end of each trimester. NSTP classes successfully planted 1,435 fruit-bearing trees and 12 hardwood trees. The average height of the saplings was 101.85 cm, indicating healthy growth overall.

By nurturing planted trees for the long haul, trees in turn can provide free access to sell or consume directly fruit yields which may lead to a healthier community lifestyle (SDG 1,2, & 3), promote farming knowledge (SDG 4), lessens atmospheric and land pollution (SDG 13), and regenerates soil’s natural composition (SDG 15).
