Mapúa University Unveils Future-Ready Strategy at Global Sustainable Development Congress in Turkey

7 月 16, 2025 • 马普阿大学

Dr. Alvin Caparanga represented the Mapúa University’s Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) in addressing the context, objectives, and the outcomes of the University’s “Re-entry Action Plan.”

The GSDC served as a critical platform, bringing together global decision-makers from education, government, business, and civil society to accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The congress featured discussions across six major tracks, including the digital revolution, cities and communities, education and inequality, and energy and industry—all areas critical to Mapúa’s core mission.

A highlight of the congress was the showcase of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, which systematically measure how universities worldwide contribute to achieving the SDGs.

Unveiling Mapúa’s Re-entry Action Plan

Dr. Alvin Caparanga represented the Mapúa University’s Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) in addressing the context, objectives, and the outcomes of the University’s “Re-entry Action Plan.”

Representing the University’s dedication to a sustainable future, Dr. Alvin Caparanga of the Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) presented Mapúa’s forward-looking Re-entry Action Plan (RAP).

The RAP is not just a proposal; it is a strategic institutional commitment designed to future-proof the university and its graduates. The plan focuses on four critical imperatives:

  1. Integrating advanced sustainability frameworks and emerging technologies into all existing curricula.
  2. Closing the critical STEM skills gap demanded by rapidly evolving industries.
  3. Addressing the challenges posed by high-demand talent migration.
  4. Aligning Mapúa’s educational outcomes directly with global sustainability priorities.

Three Key Initiatives for Global Impact

To execute this vision, the Re-entry Action Plan centers on three immediate, high-impact initiatives that will redefine the Mapúan student experience and expand the University’s global footprint:

  1. Curriculum Evolution: Developing and seamlessly embedding AI and Sustainability-focused modules across all degree programs to ensure every graduate possesses the Co-Intelligence necessary for the modern workplace.
  2. Global Connectivity: Establishing at least one new international academic partnership forged directly through strategic GSDC networking, unlocking fresh opportunities for research and student exchange.
  3. Continuous Learning: Launching a comprehensive seminar and workshop series targeting students and staff at all levels to foster a culture of perpetual professional development and SDG awareness.

Through these concentrated and strategic steps, Mapúa aims to strengthen international collaboration, expand its research and exchange opportunities, and actively prepare a new generation of future-ready graduates who are equipped to innovate and lead in the pursuit of a sustainable world.
