Our Commitment

The university's objective is to equip its students and staff with the knowledge necessary to develop intricate solutions and design systems, while maintaining a steadfast commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Since 2010, Mapúa has consciously and earnestly paved the way to contribute to sustainable development, locally and globally, through instruction, research, and extension. As shown in its initiatives, Mapúa commits itself to protecting the environment and achieving its set goals in pollution prevention, energy conservation, waste reduction, and resource-use optimization.


Mapúa has long been an advocate of environment conservation and engineering for the environment as evident in its program offerings.

 

 

Mapúa strongly promotes environmental and sustainable development (ESD) as evident in its curriculum.

The BS Environmental and Sanitary Engineering curriculum includes 17 unit courses related to the protection and conservation of the environment.

Environmental engineering and environmental science courses are included in all engineering and non-engineering programs.

 

 

Mapúa launched its I GO FOR VALUE initiatives for 2010 – 2020, where “R” stands for reduction of carbon footprint.

Mapúa established the Sustainable Development Research Office (SDRO) in 2011 and renamed it to Resiliency and Sustainable Development Center (RSDC) in 2019.
