The University’s Health Services Department takes charge of protecting and maintaining the health of its community, with the students as the priority. The department provides basic services including providing first aid and/or emergency treatment of various illnesses, conducting annual physical examinations, and maintaining medical and dental health records. It also promotes physical health and well-being through various health awareness programs.

Medical Services

As part of its mandate to provide the Mapúa community with the best healthcare service, the Health Services Department has made partnerships with three leading tertiary hospitals in Metro Manila, namely Medical Center Manila, Manila Doctors Hospital, and Makati Medical Center.

These partnerships involve providing ready access for both students and employees of the University to the top-notch medical care these institutions provide. By supplying the University with a ready credit line, Mapúans are assured to receive emergency medical care from these hospitals without the burdens of financial uncertainty.

Basic Medical Services offered by the Health Services Department:

1. Health Appraisal:
   • Health examination of the freshmen & medical consultation for ill/sick students.
   • Treatment and dispensing of medicines.
   • Prescribing follow-up medicine & issuance-up medical certificate.
   • Computerized Eye Examination (semi-annually) with the help of a private optometrist.
   • Sanitary inspection of school surroundings.

      

2. Preventive Healthcare:
   • Control of communicable diseases through voluntary vaccination. Illnesses like- Chickenpox, Influenza, Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid and MMR vaccine.
   • First aid treatment of minor injuries and mild illness which can be treated in the clinic e.g. – sprain, cough, colds, muscle pain, diarrhea, sore eyes, epigastric pain, hyperacidity and dysmenorrhea.

      

3. Remedial Aspects:
   • Referral of patient to other hospitals for further evaluation and management
   • Follow-up of referred emergency patients at partner hospitals.

      

4. Supplementary Services:
   • Conduct health seminars and activities to provide students and employees with access to sexual and reproductive health services and education, while promoting overall well-being through topics like hygiene, nutrition, family planning, sports, exercise, and aging well.
   • Physical examination & issuance of medical certificate for Scholars sponsored by the DOST & Graduate School, OJT, Sports Activities and applicants for Student Assistantship.

Students and employees of Mapúa University may avail of free online consultations from the Health Services Department, Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

1. Patient Treatment
   • Oral hygiene instructions
   • Prescribes & dispenses medicines to control pain & hemorrhages.

   • Treat and restores decayed tooth (as temporary filling only).
   • Tooth extraction (with parent & guardian consent).
