About Us

The Center for Guidance and Counseling (CGC) is an essential part of Mapúa University dedicated to the holistic development of students. Aligned with the university’s vision and mission to foster an inclusive and diverse environment, the university is committed to providing equal opportunities for all learners, including those with special needs, to access, participate in, and enjoy the benefits of higher education.

CGC offers free access to mental health services and actively promotes mental health education for students, employees, and parents. This also includes referrals to mental health providers like psychiatrists and psychotherapists when needed. Through developmental counseling, CGC helps students understand the various forces influencing their lives and supports them in achieving personal happiness and social usefulness.

Counseling at the university is inclusive, regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. The program-centered and outcomes-based approach of CGC ensures that the question, “How are students different because of what the guidance counselors do?” is effectively answered.

CGC also supports the Center for Student Advising (CSA) by helping improve students’ academic achievement, particularly those from low-income families and experiencing difficulties in educational requirements. This endeavor aims to ensure the students’ opportunity to finish their chosen degree.
